Veteran actor and one of the guardian figures of the Odia
film industry Bijay Mohanty had passed away
on July 20.
Deben Mishra, an award-winning film editor passed away at a
private hospital here following heart attack on Saturday evening.
Many Ollywood celebrities and journalists who had an opportunity to work
with the ace editor took to social media to pay tribute and recall their
association with a humble human being like Deben Mishra.
Many actors including Anubav Mohanty, senior actor Kuna
Tripathy, Snigdha Bose Mohanty along with well-known journalists like Subhas
Chandra Pattnayak, Manoranjan Mishra, Sharda Lahangir paid their tributes
through Social Media.

from Kendrapara paid his tribute with a condolence message to the family of Deben
Mishra.

Snighda Bose Mohanty took to social media to pay his tribute to Mishra.

An alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India
(FTII), Pune, Mishra had worked in Odia films along with many documentaries and
a short stint with Odia television channels. Journalists Manoranjan Mishra and
Sharda Lahangir recalled their associations with Mishra during his television
days.
Before returning to Odisha in late 1990s, Mishra had worked in many Hindi
films as assistant director and editor including the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer
‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’. He worked with
many popular directors including Raju Mishra, Sabyasachi Mohapatra in Odia film
others.
Deben Mishra has edited over 100 Odia films and
documentaries in his more than two decades of professional journey in Odisha. He
won State awards for best editing for the films Paradeshi Chadhei and Kasia
Kapila. He was also the editor for the sensational Cavender’s cigarette commercial
in 1989 featuring then famous hero Sriram Panda.
