Ollywood Pays Tribute to Versatile Filmmaker Raju Mishra

Odia film actors and politicians across party line including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid tribute to Raju Mishra, one of the most versatile filmmakers of Odisha, who passed away on Monday, November 2, following cardiac arrest at the age of 72. 

An alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune Raju Mishra who started his career in Odia film industry in 1981 was known for his multi faceted talent. He has proven his creative genius in film direction, dialogue and screenplay writing, cinematography and music composition. 

He had recently won Jayadev Samman, highest award conferred on film personalities by Odisha government, for his lifetime contribution to film industry. 

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar among other politicians paid tribute to Raju Mishra. 

Odia film actors Sabyasachi, Sritam Das, Varsha Priyadarshini among others also took to social media to express their heart felt tribute and share the memorable moments with the film director. 

Raju Mishra entered into Odia film industry as music director for the film 'Ulka' in 1981. Since then he has given many block buster movies as well as critically acclaimed film like 'Laxmi ra Abhisara'. His films Rupa Gaan Ra Suna Kania, Sagar Ganga, Jor Jar Mulak Tar. Sata Michha, Chaka Akhi Sabu Dekhuchi, Asuchi Mo Kalia Suna, Pua Mora Kala Thakura  were blockbuster Odia films.
